There is quite a bit of debate on whether organic foods are better for people than the alternative mass produced foods that you find common in supermarkets. There are good points on each side about the benefits of them considering the mass scale and hunger in the world. When it comes to your own personal garden at home, many of these issues debated become much simpler. When growing your own food you can do so organically or with chemicals.

Even when you factor out any health concerns or even nutritional values in food organic gardening makes quite a bit more sense than the chemical versions.

The big difference you have between the two mentalities is the soil. In one you make the soil become an aid to plants putting life into the soil with certain mixtures to give the plants what they need. In the other you simply add chemicals to the soil so the plants get what they need. Both methods involve putting something into the soil. But the organic method stands out because the soil is alive versus being dead. Organic soil has life in it. Once the soil reaches a certain point it's a resource for your plants giving them the nutrition they need year after year versus having to go buy it in chemical form.

Another factor that is a benefit on the side of organic gardening is that it takes care of waste. With chemical gardening, you have to go to the store, buy products, and throw out the empty bottles. Organic gardening get rid of all that and can take waste that would go into the trash and turn it into compost which becomes your soil. Practically organic gardening breaks down waste and improves it while chemical gardening adds to waste.

Weigh the differences between the two to make a good decision. You could try doing both and seeing what works better for you in your yard.
