Netbooks are great devices for their intended purposes. They are very light machines that are extremely cheap. They can take the place of some of the functions of a laptop as well as other devices if you wish. They also get great battery life making them good media devices as well. While they have these advantages, there are some reasons that you might consider not buying a netbook.

Speed and performance will be something that you find lacking out of a netbook since they are low power machines. Some people buy these thinking they are little laptops and are disappointed by how slow these tend to be. If you need performance, don't buy a netbook.

If you need a device that you can type on, you might avoid using a netbook. While they do have keyboards, it's hard for many to type well on them. You will have to test this out personally. If you type a number of hours each day, you will do better with a full sized keyboard.

Don't buy one of these just because it's a bit cheaper than a laptop. If you want a laptop, you can generally get a low end one that will perform better than a netbook for no more than $100 more. If you really want a laptop, you will be happier with this option.

Don't get a netbook if you want to do some serious work on it. The big problem is the screen size. Many applications are programmed to take up more screen space. When you are trying to work on this smaller screen, problems can occur since you can't see everything. It will just slow you down.

If you already have a smartphone or laptop, you probably don't need a netbook. Both of these devices can already do everything that a netbook is designed to do.
